Have Fun with Sadewa Pre-Primary School in Kulon Progo Library

     Tuesday morning, November 22, 2022, the euphoria in Kulon Progo Library and Archives Department becomes a special phenomenon. Children from Sadewa Pre-Primary School, one of Pre-Primary Schools located in Beji, Wates, Kulon Progo, seem really enjoy their first visit in Kulon Progo Library. Eight children companied by two teachers in total. The visitation is initiated by the teachers themselves. They hope with this visitation, the children will get new knowledge, can play and learn at the same time, also, they believe that study outside the classroom is needed sometimes. In fact, this visitation program is one of the library program to empower the society. This purpose of this policy is to introduce library to the children, increase the children’s reading interest, as well as a means of educative recreation for children.

      In this visitation, Kulon Progo Library facilitates some services, such as storytelling, singing with body movement, folding origami paper, and coloring pictures. Uswatun Hasanah, S. IP., a young librarian, helped by two apprentice students from State University of Yogyakarta, Leni Nursinta and Nurul Diasyafitri who in charge of serving the visiting group were managed to make warm and fun atmosphere, so that the children feel as if they are at home. This kind of variative and interesting event is a creative approach which really suits children. The storytelling begins with showing the book, then followed by reading the story accompanied by interesting demonstration. At the end of the event, the children are given a chance to play educative toys available in the library. Around 10.30 a.m., the children along with their teachers are go back to school, after took some photos for memories in front of the lobby. The chance for visitation is still open.
